Unlike most other companies, Rickenbacker does not pay their endorsers large sums of money to say they use Rickenbackers. In fact I personally have sold at least 2 dozen Rickenbackers to endorsers.
Rickenbacker called and asked me to give them a slightly better discount but they said that I could sell it at any price I wanted to. It has paid for me to work with many of these people because they have sent me more business than I can handle.
When a Rockstar buys a guitar it works a little differently. Normally the subject of money is never discussed. It is assumed that there will be no bill and if there was one it would be mailed directly to the manager and said Rockstar would never have to confront the dealer and discuss anything as crass as dollars and cents.
Usually a couple of weeks after a guitar is delivered, sometimes as much as 2 years later. The particular Rockstar might bestow a gift upon me or to one of the Luthiers in the shop. I have been given Rolex's, Franck Muller watches and once even a $50,000.00 Patek Phillippe Tourbillon Watch. In 1982 Joe Savage gave me a beautiful solid gold nugget bracelet.
