PRS Tremolos
|
Over the years Paul Reed Smith has used a number of
different tremolo systems. The original was made by a company known as Mil Com.
The original
I have a small number of brand new original 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988 PRS tremelos that I purchased from one of the investors in the PRS company. If you are interested please contact me. Prices will increase drastically as inventory dwindles. The original tremolo is one of my favorite vintage style tremolos. It's small neat and classy looking. It also works real well. I favor the original model, today PRS no longer uses the original manufacturer to produce their units. I am supplying graphite saddle replacements which I believe eliminate a lot of string breakage and help keep the guitar in tune. I have also gone to the original manufacturer and purchased a number of the rough castings, They are currently available as direct replacement to the stock PRS. I also have made them available as standard equipment on several other brands of guitars.

When I first wrote this page back in 1997 I still believed in the knife edge tremolos,
I am now carrying a small neat ball bearing Tremolo
A Word about the Pearlcaster Original Ball Bearing Tremolo
Pearlcaster tremolos are not the traditional knife
edge type that most companies use!
In fact they work much more smoothly !
due to the fact that there is a Ball Bearing Pivoting System built into them.
A knife edge will eventually wear down from using it.
The Pearlcaster Ball Bearing System rides on 2 hardened bearings .
These bearings are precision ground and are hardened to .060 Rockwell.
Hardened steel should never wear down.
